Call for projects of environmental education in sustainable chemistry

Absrtact
Promoting environment education on green chemistry, the Toxic and Chemical Substances Bureau (TCSB), Environment Protection Administration (EPA) solicited “sustainable chemical environmental education projects”, assisting TCSB with the program, “opening the call for projects of green chemistry - chemistry in daily life” in 2018. The program consisted of solicitation, review, counseling, evaluation, and case-closing. In the past fiscal year, there were 20 project applications accepted and approved. To ensure these projects complying with their goals, experts in related fields were invited to participate in reviewing process. For the purpose of making sure the quality and following verification process of these projects, we invited the awardees who received the funding to attend two parallel counseling meetings, with the staff from TCSB accounting and administration divisions invited to explain the legal processes of reimbursement and implementation. We finished five field visits according to issues of budgets and schedule, with performance scores recorded. More than 3,500 attendants for these project-related activities were estimated, with even higher number of contacts and impact by indirect ways. Limited by narrow timeframe, we still achieved the goals of promoting green chemistry, collecting projects results, and executing performance appraisal. These accomplishments will work as the basis for similar programs in future.
